"Call Center 3.9.3 - Cheap in cost and Cheap in Quality" - T Burke [April 25, 2005] Product Rating: 1/5
One of the worst interfaces I have come across. Tried for over an hour to properly configure - their user interface and online FAQ/Support are virtually worthless. Not impressed - will uninstall and continue looking for a good Voice/Fax solution.
"3.9.3 - cheap; unsupported; buggy" - Anthon [April 11, 2005] Product Rating: 1/5
Buyer Beware. I will not, cannot, do not recommend this product. (NT4)
No responses to email or web feedback. Several installation conflicts (DLLs, service loading, etc) can lead to a BSOD at start-up -- which is very difficult to resolve without a full recovery from backups and/or some technical assistance/knowledge.
Once resolved, I found the product to be unreliable in receiving (e.g., won't answer, disconnect during handshake, premature disconnects midway through fax) and displaying (i.e., crashes when viewing partial pages) faxes.
The component design lacks some polish, e.g., status flags (i.e., Viewed, Printed) may not be updated.
Stored faxes are saved in a proprietary format. There is no feature to clean up (e.g., sharpen image) a fax before printing.
Cheap? Yes. But more trouble than it's worth.
"You get what you pay for" - M Forgie [May 14, 2004] Product Rating: 1/5
Trial version would never answer on first ring. PRevents your PC from doing anything else. Still looking for a Win Fax replacement, this is not it. Tried on Win 2000
"Crashed my Windows XP Professional to the Blue Screen of Death" - Norm H. [May 14, 2004] Product Rating: 1/5
The download and install went fine....rather easy and nice. Detected modem accordingly. Ran a test by just calling the local "time". Dialed, etc. Then i decided to hang up/Cancel the call and my Win Xp Crashed Completely. Got IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with a bunch of stop errors and my physical memory had to dump to the disk....... I was able to start up in safe mode finally and remove the program. After removing the Call Center my system is now working fine again. Gee, I only tried it for about 1 minute....USE AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!!!!
"Call Center" - Robert Gale [March 29, 2004] Product Rating: 2/5
Functionality is good, but it has the most confusing user interface I have ever seen in a software product. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to use it. The skimpy "help" function was next to useless. I'm going to delete the whole thing from my computer and try another product.
"Call Center,,, SUPER Easy to use" - Jon [March 31, 2003]
I have tried them all, this is the easiest to use, works with win 2000 Pro SP3, was up and faxing in a minute, I will buy this one.
"Call Center 3.93" - David Fagerstrom [October 31, 2002]
Saves faxes as multi-page ".CPF" files, which are really .TIFF; annotations tool is handy. Does a good job of detecting modems. Stable, a rather mature product. [Last update of product was ~ 12/99 IIRC.] Works well under NT4 and Win2000.
