Sorry but I am entirely dissatisfied with Securepoint's performance so far. Especially the lack of fine-grained access control on application level is a major drawback. You can allow an application to fully access the internet or you can forbid it completely. Nothing in between. Of course you could add some extra IP-filters (clumsy compared to some other free products out there) - but this doesn't nescessarily solves the problem. A lot of programs use their official port only to negiotate connection policies and than communicate using some random port numbers.
Furthermore I was unable to specify designated subnets (from where Netbios is allowed to access my PC etc..). Adobe Acrobat was able to circumvent the firewall after I deactivated it for some moments. And uhhm yes the VPN-Client: get something that is working - the cisco VPN client for example. If you need a firewall consider something different - maybe you want to give Kerio a closer look - which is one of the many choices available.
"Securepoint PFW & VPN Client" - Lee Higdon [September 16, 2004] Product Rating: 3/5
It neeeds a little work, but it has great promise. I'd rate it between a 3 and a 4, out of 5. The interface is still a bit confusing, and the English translation is a bit clumsy. The help manual need more explanation. But those are all things that can be easily fixed.
