Last Updated: June 26, 2008
Control your employee’s website browsing habits and monitor downloads and bandwidth use in real-time with GFI WebMonitor for ISA Server. Research by IDC shows that up to 40% of employee internet activity is non-work related. GFI WebMonitor for ISA Server can help boost employee productivity by giving you real-time control over what your employees can browse and what files they can download.

GFI WebMonitor for ISA Server provides essential protection for your ISA Server users and corporate network. GFI WebMonitor uses multiple virus scanners (Norman, BitDefender and optional Kaspersky) to scan files that are being downloaded. Using multiple scanners drastically reduces the average time to obtain virus signatures which combat the latest threats, and therefore greatly reduces the chances of an infection.

Control your ISA Server users with GFI WebMonitor, which comes in three versions: WebFilter, WebSecurity and UnifiedProtection editions. Visit our website to learn more and to download a free 30-day trial.

Comments for GFI WebMonitor for ISA Server:
"a Great tool but not complete !" - Sohail Ahmed [July 21, 2006] Product Rating: 4/5
GFI Web Monitor is really a good tool to monitor and block users abjectionable web sites but for the audit and preventive concern it has a mojor Flows thats is IT DOES NOT SHOW THE USERS DATE AND TIME OF VISITED WEB SITES. which is very much important if the management want to take any action to any users when he visited the porno web sites.
"Make sure you get the Kaspersky add-in!" - Ray [July 5, 2006] Product Rating: 5/5
Kaspersky does a superb job at stopping the non-virus programs that make your life harder. For example, it stopped Hotbar twice today as well as a couple of "adware removal tool" downloads. When an IT person tried to download the free Solarwinds TFTP server, it stopped it cold as well because it's commonly used as a hacker tool. All of these sailed right through the other two scanners because they were not officially viruses.
"My Opinion" - Fred [September 22, 2005] Product Rating: 4/5
I think that it's very useful product, installed in a matter of minutes and is very straight forward too.
"GFI ISA Webmonitor" - SimonE [July 1, 2005] Product Rating: 3/5

"I want something Special" - Arif Hussain [June 20, 2005] Product Rating: 4/5

"Nice Product" - Ghassan Aoude [May 5, 2005] Product Rating: 5/5
Thanks to the ISAServer.org site, it Really helps.
Special thanks to GFI. Excelent products they have. I use them myself.
"Must have utility" - Collin Chaffin [May 5, 2005] Product Rating: 4/5
This is a must have utility for ISA administrators. In future versions, I'd like to see an automatic refresh of activity, as well as a date/time logging feature but it's already a tool I can't live without!
"Comments about Downloadsecurity" - Benny Quinart [March 23, 2005] Product Rating: 5/5
With having users who can surf to any page on the internet, this tool from GFI is a gift from God.
All content is scanned and blocked before it enters our network and before it reaches the client side.
No more having to pay weekly visits to several clients because they are once again infected with several spyware, virusses, etc...
For the moment I am still testing the software, but I am going to do my very best to convince my IT director to buy this add on for our ISAserver.
"GFI Download Security 6 - Scalability?" - Paul Messer [March 21, 2005] Product Rating: 3/5
Very useful product installed in a matter of minutes and is very straightforward.

I'm right in the middle of trying to deploy 3 ISA/Websense servers currently to 3,500 users.

I'm getting system is overloaded errors from numerous users trying to download files, raised this with tech support who point me at a knowledge base article which states that GFI can only scan 63 objects simultaenously, (yeah, why 63, not 65 or 60 but 63). To 3,500 users this doesn't strike me as being anywhere near enough, this has been raised with development, phew! that's a relief I thought, not so my 3,500 users though!
"GFI DownloadSecurity 6" - John Barsodi [March 14, 2005] Product Rating: 4/5
I'm a big fan of GFI's product suites. I downloaded this product mainly because of its new spyware protection features. The product was fairly simple to configure, the interface was identical to my GFI MailSecurity interface for my Exchange environment. Whenever a user downloads a file, DownloadSecurity displays it's own webpage with a progress meter and save to disk options. The software itself after configured worked flawlessly with the exception of how it handled alerting the admin of a possible virus download. Still working out that bug, but all in all a good product.
"Dire software" - Ross Smith [March 14, 2005] Product Rating: 1/5
Where do I begin... no automatic deletion of quarantined items - every single one has to be processed individually by the administrator. No limits on the size of the quarantine folder, it can and will grow to fill your drive, do not install this on your system partition.

DownloadSecurity does not work if you try to secure internet explorer. It requires script execution permissions, but runs in the security context of the site, so you need to allow scripts to run for any site where you want to download a document (or view a PDF file).

Any restrictions you do put in place are for all users. If you want to prevent your users downloading EXE files, you will also prevent your IT staff from downloading updates and patches...poorly thought out in my opinion.
"GFI Webmonitor" - Art de Guzman [March 9, 2005] Product Rating: 2/5
Webmonitor, the first 1-2 weeks was great... after that, the ISA Server crawls when clients browse the internet... uninstall webmonitor and re-install it again... now make the difference.
"WebMonitor" - Rafael Milani [March 7, 2005] Product Rating: 5/5
Excellent tool to monitor my ISA Server.
"ISA GFi Webmonitor" - Christian Hagemann [March 7, 2005] Product Rating: 4/5
very Helpfull tool, if you need to trace down some strange behavious of users or software.
but if you use NLB, there is a lack of information
on which server the packet/request was transported.

Greetings

"It doesn't work for me" - Nadeem [March 3, 2005] Product Rating: 4/5
It is a no doubt a great utility but it doesn't work for me. I ve 2000AS as a domain and ISA2000 with some very simple policies. But Webmonitor, after showing "opening page http://monitor.isa" for a few seconds. just gives "can not find server or DNS error". Can anybody resolve it?
"Content Type" - Dany Issa [March 1, 2005] Product Rating: 4/5
It would be a great idea if a summary with the category of web sites visited (ex. adult, violence, gambling,...) be given along with other statistics
"vraiment tres utile !!" - nicolas [March 1, 2005] Product Rating: 4/5

GFI served me alot. From mail scanning to web monitoring, it's been so easy to administrate and specially the web monitor given free to all - absolutely great.

I use it every day. And recomand to any one, who is suffering like I was.

Cheers!
"Must have utility" - Collin Chaffin [February 28, 2005] Product Rating: 3/5
This is one of those must have utilities if you manage ISA servers. In future versions I'd love to see the time/date logging and a scripted automatic refresh to make it a bit closer to real-time!
"Very Powerfull Web Monitor Tool" - Abdullah Nabil Kamal [February 28, 2005] Product Rating: 5/5
"GFI WebMonitor for ISA Server" is a very powerfull to to monitor live uptodate internet usage of your organization, I tried it and it was really ammazing.
"Excellent value" - Leon Hughes [February 28, 2005] Product Rating: 5/5
Download Security for ISA server is a no fuss, easy to implement product that does exectly what is says on the tin! Multiple scanning engines only add to the value making it one of the best all round virus protection products I've used.
"Some comments about GFI Download Security" - Patrick Mattsson [February 28, 2005] Product Rating: 5/5
When I setup ISA Server 2004 for my customers here in sweden the also need to be sure that files downloaded of the Internet is secure and do NOT contain any harfull code.

I have tried many products in this range and, well The best so far is GFI Download security ver.6.

I recommend this product, but I will always keep my eys open on all other download security sofware to check if they can match GFI.

Only one thing is against GFI, the support communication is sometimes a "bit" slow.

Mulitple virus engines talks for GFI.

Regards Patrick

This is a very nice tool. Easily installed and works instantly with no configuration needed. The time logging is a feature I would love to see in future updates.
"Awesome Product" - Muhammad Usman [September 13, 2004] Product Rating: 5/5
Now you dont have to waste your time studying SDK of ISA. Just install WebMonitor and you will know each and everything your users are doing on the internet. I actually used it to view my users activities on internet and i caught them with bad sites and fined them for breaking the rules of the Company.
"Good aid to Network Admin" - Kotaru Nagasrinivas [January 27, 2004] Product Rating: 4/5
It is good and light weight tool. it helps a lot to Network Administrators to monitor the current state of internet connection and detect and block the unnecessary sites, which are accessing by your users. it is free and require simple / no configuration.
"Version 6 is so much better" - Stephen Rayment [January 26, 2004] Product Rating: 4/5
Since my first post, I've been contacted by GFi who have supplied an installation that works for me.

Version 6 is so much better than v.5. The management is much simpler (no manual registry changes for settings) and since being installed on around 4 servers, there have been no problems.

This is a straightforward product that does what it says and is very reasonably priced.
"Straightforward product" - Stephen Rayment [November 19, 2003] Product Rating: 4/5
Looking at what's available in the market place, GFi DownloadSecurity is a basic product that is easy to configure and maintain. All I wanted was something to scan downloads and give users a progress message while their download was running and GFI does both.

I had problems with the initial installation and found some of the GFi technical support information isn't published on their knowledge base.

Version 5 doesn't support arrays and so I had to turn CARP off. After that it was much better.

I haven't been able to install version 6 as the installation fails to complete and technical support can't give me resolution to the problem.

Still, I'm happy with version 5. It hasn't caused any major support problems and the auto-updates work well.
"The best for ISA Server" - Simon Links [September 4, 2003]
I've tried them all...Downloadsecurity beats them all..espcially with version 6..very stable and simple to configure. Symantec aren't far behind though their lack of multiple virus engines means they lose out on added benefits and security.
"Integration with HTTP Redirector filter?" - Dale Shaw [July 16, 2003]
It would be nice if you didn't have to have a proxy specified, i.e. it worked with the HTTP redirector filter ("http://monitor.isa" fails unless you have a proxy set). Other than that, very cool.
"Great Tool - Get it NOW!" - Damon [June 2, 2003]
I used this to diagnose an issue with ISA seeming to freeze for 30-60 seconds every few minutes. The tool easily showed that this was occuring at the ISA server and was not an Internet connection related issue.

If you want to have the page refreshing, create a frame based page that auto refreshes when you specify, that includes the page opened for the monitor. Easy.
"Does not show date:" - Asif Rasool [May 30, 2003]
Its really one of good real time softwares but one thing is that it does not show the date with url.
"Realtime Monitor is awsome! Can't believe it's free" - Ken [November 25, 2002]
I used to have to wait to run reports to find out something. Now I can track users in realtime. It's great!!
"Wicked Tool!" - Kris [November 13, 2002]
Handy little tool...does just what it says and best of all..it's free! Two thumbs up!
"It does the job" - Cisne [October 30, 2002]
GFI Languard Real Time Monitor for ISA Server is a very good utility to monitor web activity although it does have its down size such as; you have to refresh the page to see current web/ftp activity & a record log would have been great to keep track of every page visited. Other than that it is a very good util.
"It works - No Problems for so far." - Alfie Ameer [October 29, 2002]
I used it and it works. Other than the factors noted in the two previous comments, it worked well with no problems encountered.
"Does not Track Firewall Clients" - AJ [September 26, 2002]
Other than not monitoring Firewall clients, it's very good!
"It is very useful" - Ramadan [September 23, 2002]
Realy it is a good free tool to monitor what is go on from the employees when I given it to the general manager he was very glad to know what is the open pages opened now from his employees.
"GFI LANguard Real Time Monitor for ISA Server" - IT Support [August 21, 2002]
GFI LANguard Real Time Monitor for ISA Server is a very nice, FREE tool but it is in no way "real time" you have to hit "refresh" on your browser to update.
